Young lawyers to converge in Port Harcourt on Saturday

Young legal practitioners in Nigeria will converge in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Saturday, November 24, 2018, to share ideas of changing roadmap to the legal profession.

Convener of the Young Wigs Conference, Barrister Mrs Inemesit Dike, who disclosed this while speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt, said the conference is being co-sponsored by TEDx Port Harcourt.

Dike stated that the conference, which has the theme: “What Law School Doesn’t Teach You: Metaphorphosis”, has redefined the concept of community building among young lawyers.

She said: “Much has changed since the first Young Wigs Conference where Thirteen people, driven by passion for the legal profession, sat around, eating snacks and sharing ideas on changing the roadmap for the practice of Law!

“Young Wigs Conference has redefined the concept of community building among young lawyers, whose annual highlight is the gathering of young lawyers, learning, sharing knowledge and helping one another.

“Many senior lawyers and Senior Advocates of Nigeria have also lent their voice, their skills and expertise to the growth of this phenomena.”

Dike stated that the conference is targeted at young lawyers within 1-7 years in practice and also for Level 400 and 500 Law Students in the university.

She further stated that the lawyers should be able to think outside the box yet still value his certificate, acquiring the needed skills.
