The Federal Commissioner of Public Complaints Commission Hon. Marshall Israel has urged Youth in Rukpokwu Community in Obio/Apko Local Government Of Rivers State to continue to be law abiding and peaceful.

The Federal Commissioner made this statement at the Opening Ceremony of the Community’s yearly Unity Football Tournament where he featured as Special Guest Of Honour.

According to him, Rukpokwu is one of the most peaceful and friendly communities in Rivers State as evidenced by the influx of people into the community.

“I urged you today to continue to be law abiding and peaceful as that is the only way to attract development and investment into the community. I commend the efforts and commitment of Rukpokwu Youth Association led by Achinike Onwukwe towards ensuring that Rukpokwu remains habitable.

“Other Communities in Rivers State must emulate Rukpokwu Community. There is no alternative to Peace. If you go to some communities in Rivers State, you will see the level of damage and devastation that is going on there.

“Armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism and drug dealing have become the order of the day. The way people are being killed and beheaded in those communities baffle me.

“How do you expect investors to come in? How can development thrive in such atmosphere of rancour, acrimony and unabashed brutality?

“The Nigerian Police are trying their best but you will agree with me that no security agency can work effectively and efficiently without the support and commitment of the host communities.

“Election is fast approaching. Rivers State is always a flash point. To have a violent free election, it’s a function of our collective decision not to carry guns and shoot ourselves.

“If you make yourself a willing tool in the hands of wicked politicians, they will use you and dump you after the election.

“Events like this should not be an annual thing. It should be every six months to foster peace and unity in the community” he said.
