Street named after Rivers F-SARS Commander in Calabar causes uproar

A Street named after Ekiti State-born ACP Akin Fakorede, the Rivers State F-SARS Commander, and located at Satellite Town, Calabar Municipality Local Government Area of Cross River State, is causing an uproar in social media space and other corners of Cross River State, especially in the capital.

Akin Fakorede street, renamed recently came as a surprise owing to the anti-people poser by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, against the Federal Special Anti-Robery Squad, F-SARS Commander.

Although, the street was popularly called Dominion Chapel Street, named after the church; Dominion Chapel on the street, it was renamed after Fakorede to the displeasure of many.

A social Commentator and a political Analyst, Mr. Eugene Upah who started the thread on his Facebook post wrote, “My concern is that CP Joseph Mbu, former Commissioner of Police, Rivers State owns a house on that street at Satellite Town and wasn’t acknowledged.

“Reports has it that the street where CP Mbu owns a house in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has also been renamed after ACP Fakorede. Do the calculations, and you will understand why some people (the force) in the system are bent on giving President Muhammadu Buhari a bad name. We politicise everything in Nigeria”, Upah said.

Another Cross Riverian, Kennedy Nsan, who commented on the thread said, “It’s even a slap on our faces that that nigga would have a street named after him in Cross River State.

“Who named the said street after him should be our first question, and what was the street initially called?”.

The street naming has triggered several questions begging for answers and yet, no one is speaking up.
