The Administrator of Opobo Nkoro Local Government Area, Warisenibo Frederick Apiafi, has pledged his support towards the establishment and commencement of a magistrate court in the area.
Warisenibo Apiafi, who made the pledge when he played host to the leadership of Opobo Lawyers Forum(OLF) in Port Harcourt said that though his mandate as an administrator do not guarantee him embarking on capital projects, but the council under his watch, would liaise with relevant authorities to ensure a befitting magistrate court building and commencement of court sessions in the area.
The Opobo Nkoro Council boss reiterated that for whatever acceptable existing structure that the council would be considering for use as the magistrate court, the council would ensure that negotiations are carried out and formal permission granted, backed up with necessary documents handed over to the judiciary, to avoid embarrassing eviction of the court in the near future.

Warisenibo Apiafi, further emphasised that due to his personal interest in matters that concern the judiciary in the State, and knowing the benefits that the people of the area will get in having the magistrate court operational in the area, the council would liaise and partner relevant authorities of the judiciary in the State to actualise the commencement of the project as soon as possible.
“We as a council would see what we can do as to work on the customary court in Opobo Town to make it functional again,” he said.
Earlier, the leader of the Forum, Barrister Edward Obomanu, said the main purpose of their visit to the administrator was to solicit council’s support towards the establishment and take off of a magistrate court in the area.
Barrister Obomanu, also said that the non-existence of a magistrate court in Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area has been a thing of great concern especially to members of OLF, as various efforts made by stakeholders to establish the court have received assurance from the State Chief Judge, Justice Simeon Amadi.
