Bayelsa Govt Partners on Financial Empowerment, Skills, Healthcare for Student Welfare

In their determination to ensure improved welfare towards the well-being of students in the state, the Bayelsa State government has reiterated its commitment to Public-Private Partnership. The government revealed that this partnership is to cater for the students’ Welfare in the state.

The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Gentle Emelah reaffirmed this when he received the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Doktorconnect, Dr Joseph Olowe, and his team in his office at Education House in Yenagoa. Emelah thanked Olowe and his team for the visit and his willingness to work with the state government.

He assured them that the government was committed to improving students’ welfare in the state through public-private partnership initiatives. Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Doktorconnect, Dr. Joseph Olowe, revealed that “the visit is to intimate the commissioner on a transformative initiative that promises to revolutionize the well-being and future prospects of students across Nigerian tertiary institutions.

“The Initiative is designed to uplift students’ lives through healthcare access, financial empowerment, skill development, and community engagement. “The reason for this visit to Bayelsa State, is on the fact that, education and healthcare are the twin pillars of sustainable development, hence the need for the collaboration with the state government to improve the well-being of the students.”

The chief executive added that the collaboration will ensure; the students; tomorrow’s leaders are healthy, skilled, and financially empowered; by enhancing employability for students in a digital economy, providing income while studying, 24/7 access to qualified doctors on or off campus, keeping students physically and mentally fit, sensitization programs on health and well-being.

Delegates that represented the students during the meeting were; Secretary of the Students Management Committee, Comrade Kenneth Jacob, the South-South Secretary General of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Amb. Daniel Ndanabari, President of Kolokuma-Opokuma Federated Students Union Worldwide/Chief Judge of Student Union Government (SUG) University of Africa Toru-Orua, Sagbama, Comrade Augustine Jasmine Oyindeinyefa.

Others were, the Vice President of Student Union Government University of Africa Toru-Orua (UAT) Sagbama Bayelsa State, Comrade Opukeme Rejoice Wengiowei, the President of Student Union Government University of Africa Toru-Orua (UAT) Sagbama Bayelsa State, Comrade Barbie Mkparu.
