In the early hours of Tuesday, a petty thief was apprehended near the Eliozu Police Post, close to the police caravan. The suspect was caught attempting to flee from the Christ Apostolic Church Arena, where he had allegedly broken in to steal sound equipment, including speakers and other instruments.
Eyewitnesses reported that the thief was in the process of jumping the church fence with the stolen items when an alarm was raised, prompting residents to give chase.

Upon his capture, he was found in possession of various other items, including belts, clothes, and shoes—belongings believed to have been stolen from nearby homes in recent weeks. Many of these items had mysteriously disappeared from house fronts, fueling suspicions of a repeat offender.

The suspect, who is alleged to have broken into several compounds in the area over time, was beaten and tied up by an angry mob before police intervention.
While the atmosphere was filled with a mix of jubilation and chaos due to the thief’s capture, residents refrained from engaging in jungle justice, opting instead to let law enforcement handle the matter.
This arrest has brought a sense of relief to the community, which has been plagued by frequent petty thefts. Authorities are expected to continue their investigation and take appropriate legal action.
