FRSC Cracks Down on Fake Number Plates, Warns Vehicle Owners

Vehicle owners have been cautioned against patronizing unauthorized number plate vendors but obtain their number plates from Motor Licensing Authorities or visit the Federal Road Safety Corps office in the various states of the Federation.

Speaking during the launch of crackdown against illegal use of plate numbers and fake vehicles registration number in Rivers State, the Rivers State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Corps commander Inyang Umoh said Vehicle owners and motorist should comply with the provisions of the law as the special operation was aimed at enhancing security in the State.

The Corps Commander, emphasized the importance of registering vehicles, stating that it’s not only a legal requirement but also a demonstration of responsible citizenship.

Corps Commander Umoh while stressing the need to complement government efforts in the fight against criminality stated that the public should cooperate with FRSC officials as they discharge their duties and warned that those patronizing touts for vehicle registration and number plates will face the full wrath of the law.

The FRSC has been actively campaigning against fake number plates, stressing their link to national security. The corps has also recovered 73 stolen vehicles and 12 in Rivers State in 2024 alone, highlighting the effectiveness of their effort.
