Troops Avert Major Fire Disaster After Petrol Tanker Crash in Rivers State

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Division successfully prevented a major fire disaster in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, after a tanker loaded with petrol overturned at Rumuokwuta Roundabout. The quick response of the army, in collaboration with other agencies, averted what could have been a catastrophic incident.

In a statement by the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, it was revealed that the Acting Commanding Officer of the 760 Transport Battalion, Major Al-Mustapha Shawwal Adams, swiftly mobilized troops and led the 6 Division Fire Crew to the scene. Their timely intervention ensured that no fire broke out and that there were no casualties or damage to property.

The area was immediately cordoned off, and all necessary safety protocols were put in place to manage the situation. The effort was conducted in collaboration with sister agencies to ensure a comprehensive response.

“This fire prevention effort underscores the Nigerian Army’s commitment to civil-military relations and community support,” the statement emphasized.

The General Officer Commanding the 6 Division, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, praised the troops for their quick action and assured residents of Rivers State that the Division will continue to prioritize people-centric operations aimed at safeguarding lives and property.
