By Tina Amanda

A dog meat seller, identified as Erica, has allegedly absconded with a six-month-old male child, Lucky Sunday, at Anekelane, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt.

Erica, who hails from Akwa Ibom State and is in his mid-30s, has been missing since Sunday, September 29, 2024, after reportedly taking the child from his mother, Mrs. Hope Sunday.

Erica, who had been living in the compound for just two months, was known for selling dog meat in front of the residence.

According to Mrs. Hope, the suspect offered to hold her baby while she attended to other tasks. “He used to like carrying my baby, so when he offered to help, I gave him the baby.

“I wanted to wash he said he would help me carry the baby so that I can spread the clothes, then I gave my baby to him. Why I give out my baby is that he likes to carry my baby always”.

She explained that after settling her other children, she returned to find that both Erica and her baby were gone.

“I asked a neighbor if she saw him, and she said he hadn’t gone far. Another person said I should check the lotto office where Erica usually charges his phone, but when I got there, he was nowhere to be found,” Mrs. Hope recounted.

The distraught mother immediately reported the incident to the Azikiwe Police Division at Iloabouchi, Mile 2 Diobu. Local residents who gathered to console Mrs. Hope expressed shock at the dog meat seller’s alleged actions, describing him as an unlikely perpetrator.

Police are currently investigating the matter and are urging anyone with information about Erica’s whereabouts to come forward.
