Wike Challenges PDP Leaders to Accuse Him of Being a Mole, Defends His Integrity

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a bold challenge to any governor or leader within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to publicly accuse him of being a mole. Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Wike dared anyone within the party to come forward with such claims.

“Before accepting the Ministerial appointment, I wrote letters to the PDP in my state, my zone, and at the national level. Who in PDP is saying I’m a mole? Name names,” Wike asserted.

He criticized those who think they are politically clever, stating, “What I want to do, I will do. What I don’t want to do, I won’t do. I challenge any governor or National Working Committee member to say, on national TV, that I’m a mole.”

Wike also recalled his decision in 2023 not to support the PDP’s presidential candidate, citing concerns over fairness and equity. He reminded his critics that despite this stance, the PDP still achieved significant victories in Rivers State, including governorship, National Assembly, and State Assembly wins.

“I challenge anyone to show similar success in their states,” Wike added.

The former Rivers State governor also addressed his strained relationship with Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki. Wike revealed that he declined Obaseki’s request to support his preferred successor, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, citing past experiences where his support led to insults rather than appreciation.

Wike further defended his cousin, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Edo State, against allegations of bias, stating, “No one, not even the INEC Chairman, can intimidate my cousin into doing what is wrong.”

He also expressed disappointment with Rivers State Governor Similaye Fubara, accusing him of attempting to dismantle the political family that helped bring him to power—a betrayal Wike says he will not forgive.
