President Tinubu Appoints Badamasi Lawal as New CEO of NSIPA

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Badamasi Lawal as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).

President Tinubu did not only appoint a permanent CEO for NSIPA but also selected leaders for other key humanitarian agencies. The appointments were announced on Tuesday by presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale.

This decision comes after the former head of NSIPA, Halima Shehu, was suspended on January 2 over allegations of financial misconduct. Following Shehu’s suspension, Dr. Akindele Egbuwalo, the National N-POWER Program Manager, served as the acting CEO during the investigation period.

“To facilitate the needed relief to Nigerians and ensure the effectiveness of humanitarian and social development programs, President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of seven qualified Nigerians to head strategic agencies and programs under the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development,” Ngelale stated.

The spokesman to President Tinubu, stated the expectations of the President, hoping that the new heads of these critical agencies and programs will perform their duties with the highest integrity and diligence. “The President expects the new heads of these critical agencies and programs to discharge the functions of their offices with utmost integrity and diligence so as to ensure that Nigerians, especially vulnerable groups, are the exclusive and direct beneficiaries of his administration’s reconfigured welfare programs.”

The new appointees include Funmilola Olotu as the Programme Manager for the National Social Safety-Net Coordinating Office; Aishat Alubankudi as the Programme Manager for the Grant for Vulnerable Groups; and Princess Aderemi Adebowale as the Programme Manager for Home Grown School Feeding.

Additionally, Abdullahi Alhassan Imam has been named Programme Manager for the National Cash Transfer Office; Ayuba Gufwan as Executive Secretary for the National Commission for People with Disabilities; and Lami Binta Adamu Bello as Director General for the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons.
