Following the tragedy that occurred in Borno State, the police boss, Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, deployed additional security forces to hamper further attacks as he condemned the incident.

The police boss, Egbetokun, through the force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement released yesterday expressed displeasure as he condemned the suicide attack that occurred during a wedding ceremony held in Tashan Mararaba, Gwoza town, on Saturday.

The multiple blast was stated to “have claimed innocent lives and caused injury to many.”

Furthermore, he reaffirms the force’s commitment and obligation to the state, and the NPF Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army EOD unit, has also been deployed to maintain a conducive environment for the state and neighboring states.

“The IGP reiterates the zeal of the Nigeria Police Force to continue to work with the military and other security agencies, as well as stakeholders, to bring down all forms of criminal and violent attacks in the country. He also calls on Nigerians to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the police,” the spokesperson stated.

To this, IGP Egbetokun has directed the deputy IGP to spearhead the Force Intelligence Department “to scale up the intelligence gathering across the country for more effective anti-crime operations.”
