CP Itam Vows to Apprehend Alleged Assailants Over Murder of Three Victims, Two Injured Citizens

Following the abduction and murder of vigilantes and injured victims, the Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Itam, has vowed to get justice for the manslaughter of victims by the perpetrators.

Tochukwu Ikenga, the force spokesperson, said in a statement released today through their social media channel and he stated that the tragic incident occurred yesterday.

He added that the ugly incident occurred when some group of armed men drove in a red Highlander Jeep and abducted a citizen at Nnewi in Anambra State at approximately 1:30 p.m. and were later engaged in a gun battle after they were intercepted at Nnobi.

As the gun battle became intense between the terrorist and police force, Ikenga disclosed that one of the security personnel was badly injured and two passersby were equally struck as well due to the indiscriminate shootings.

He explained that, in response to casualties, the Police Responding Team (PRT) arrived at the scene to transport the victims to a nearby hospital. Three victims, including a 22-year-old lady, were announced dead upon arrival by the doctors on duty, while the other two survivors are currently undergoing treatment.

Responding to this, CP Itam has ordered a manhunt for the perpetrators, and he described them as cowards for the attack.

In expressing sympathy to the victim’s families, he vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice and urged eyewitnesses to render useful information that would lead to their arrest.

The spokesperson further noted that more details about the incident will be disclosed in due time.
