3 Children Abducted in Abia State Regains Freedom

The Abia State Police Command announced the successful release of three children abducted by an unknown cyclist from Amoba Okoro village in Ikwuanno LGA of Abia State.

This was made known in a statement released on Saturday, signed by the police spokesperson, Maureen Chinaka.

It was gathered that the grandmother of the three children abducted by the yet-to-be identified cyclist was hired for the purpose of transporting her grandchildren to their residents after they all paid her a visit.

The rescue minors are identified by their various names: Gideon Osinachi, 8-years-old; Obioma Divine Osinachi, 6-years-old; and Israel Osinachi, 4-year-old.

However, the statement explained that on “May 21, Obioma Divine Osinachi was rescued at Ekwulobia in Anambra State, Gideon Osinachi was rescued at Nkpor in Anambra State on May 23, and Israel Osinachi was rescued at Warri in Delta State on June 13,” respectively.

Furthermore, Chinaka, Assistance Superintendent of Police (ASP), revealed that the abductees rescued were united with their parents, and the rescue operation lasted for a period of a month and two days.

The statement read, “Four female suspects and one male suspect were arrested in connection with the crime. The suspects were arrested variously at Amawbia and Nkpor in Anambra State, as well as Warri in Delta State.”

“They include Reverend Sister Pauline Alozie (female), Chizoba DJ (female), Glory Umuna (female), Mrs. Georgina Nonye Okoye (female), and Philip Ibe (male). They are in custody and will be charged to court very soon.”

The state police command expressed gratitude to the commission sister body for their efforts and collaboration for a successful rescue operation, which includes stakeholders such as the Mayor of Ikwuano LGA, Mr. Osinachi Nwaka, and Abia State Homeland Security, amongst others mentioned.

In maintaining security in the state, the command urged residents to be security-conscious and ensure children’s safety. Also, the commission advised that parents should avoid leaving their children with “unfamiliar persons.”
