Northern youths commend S’ Court for declaring Tinubu as president

By Brave Dickson

Northern youths under the auspices of the Arewa Youth Federation have commended the Supreme Court for declaring Bola Tinubu as the duly elected president of the February 25 presidential election.

The apex court on Thursday upheld the judgments of the presidential election petition tribunal and dismissed the appeals of the PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar and his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi for lacking in merits.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Yakubu Bello told our correspondent that the decision of the supreme court is capable of taking Nigerians to the promise land as it has laid to rest, all distracting litigations resulting from the election.

“We are happy that the Supreme Court has finally declared Tinubu the winner of last presidential election. We call on all opposition parties to close ranks and work with the president to move the country forward,” he said.

On September 6, the tribunal ruled and affirmed the election victory of Tinubu which the petitioners in the mattter disagreed with and filed appeals before the supreme court to challenge the verdict of the tribunal.

While Obi prayed
the apex court to cancel the election that produced Tinubu as president, Atiku requested same court to cancel the election and declare him the winner or order for a rerun.
