Mohbad: Upcoming musicians in Rivers rejoice as police begin autopsy

By Kelechi Esogwa-Amadi

The mystery behind the shocking, sudden death of fast-rising music star, Ilerioluwa Aloba a.k.a. Mohbad, will soon be unraveled as the Lagos State Police Command is about to conduct an autopsy test on the late singer’s body, after exhuming it on Wednesday.

News of the exhumation of Mohbad’s body and the about-to-be-conducted autopsy has left some upcoming musicians in Rivers State excited, as they believe that the move will help to expose those who might have a hand in the death of the singer whom they see as an inspiration for aspiring and upcoming musicians.

One of the upcoming musicians, Kingsley Ucheka, a.k.a. K-Sly, said he did not believe that Mohbad died a natural death.

He expressed hope that with the autopsy test, the late singer would get justice, adding that those behind his death should not go unpunished.

K-Sly told TPCN during a chat on Thursday:

“Am very happy that they have removed his body from the grave. And now the police will do an autopsy to really know what killed him. I believe the test will expose many things that some people are hiding. Please let the police tell the world anything they discover when they finish the test, the whole world wants to know the truth of this matter. Me, I don’t believe that it was his time to die. There’s something they’re not telling us – like that nurse, the injection, Naira Marley – all that stuff. That’s why I like what the police are doing now. They will tell us the hidden truth. I thank the police, we’re waiting for the result.”

On why he’s interested in the Mohbad case, K-Sly said:
“Am his fan; I look up to him. He sings for the poor boys like me, you know, the street boys who want to make it. He sings for peace and gives us hope and encouragement. So, I know that if he can make it, we the small boys can make it too. That’s why his death is paining us. All my friends are angry -you know – the young musicians. Any time am singing in the nightclub, I will sing about him.”

The Lagos State Police Command, on Wednesday, exhumed Mohbad’s body from the grave in which he was buried a day after his death last
late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba widely known as Mohbad.

The Lagos State Police spokesman, Ben Hundeyin, confirmed this on Thursday morning. He added that an autopsy would be conducted next. The autopsy will reveal the actual cause of the singer’s death, as part of investigations.

Mohbad’s death had generated angry reactions from concerned Nigerians who feel that his death may have been induced. Many have pointed accusing fingers at the Marlian Record Label’s owner, Afeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley. Mohbad’s parents have reportedly claimed that their son was severely being victimized by Marley and his team.

Unconfirmed reports also have it that Mohbad’s relationship with Naira Marley got frostier since he (Mohbad) dumped the Marlian Record Label for another company, a decision many believe did not go down well with Marley.

Also, there have been allegations and counter-allegations from his distant relatives over his estate in the early days of his demise.

Nigerians queried why he was buried at Ikorodu in Lagos, immediately after the following day he died, but his father, in an interview posted online, cited the Yoruba custom as a reason for the quick burial.

The Lagos police command is already investigating the matter while the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said that the Department of State Service (DSS) will also join in the investigation.
