A total number of 17 communities in Emuoha and Ikwerre Local Government Areas of Rivers State have been left in total darkness as vandals vandalized electric wires supplying the areas.
TPCN investigations reveals that the vandalization of high-tension wires from former Setraco Yard to Total E/P pipeline along East-West road has affected supply in the communities for over a month.
The communities include Elele Alimini, Elele Okinali, Akpabu, Omerelu, Isiokpo, Omuagwa, Apani, Ọzụzụ, Rumuji and Evekwu.
Others are Ndele, Ibaa, Obelle, Okporomini, Ịtụ, Omuanwa and Ubima.
A source disclosed to Theportcitynews.com that communities have been asked to contribute the sums of 15 million Naira each to effect repair of the transmission lines.
The source also said that meetings are being held by each community to that effect.
