LP national chairman presents Itubo as Rivers gubernatorial candidate

The national chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure, has presented Beatrice Itubo as the party’s governorship candidate in Rivers state.

Abure, while presenting Itubo on Monday, called on residents of Rivers to vote for her as the next governor of the state.

The presentation followed controversy over the ticket which is also being claimed by one Fafaa Dan Princewill.

Addressing the controversy, Itubo said Princewill was contracted by some politicians in the state to cause confusion in the party.

She explained that she contested for the party’s primary and won, adding that her name is still on the website of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC as the candidate of the party in Rivers State.

On her prospects in the March 11 gubernatorial election, Itubo expressed hope that she would garner the number of votes garnered by the presidential candidate of the party, Mr. Peter Obi in the state.
