Rivers 2023: Abe congratulates Amaechi, insists name will be on ballot

Former senator representing Rivers Southeast Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Magnus Abe has insisted that he will be on the ballot in the 2023 governorship election in Rivers State.

Recall that Abe, who is a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State had refused to join the party’s guber primaries, which produced Arc. Tonye Cole as APC governorship candidate for the 2023 election.

The former senator had disagreed with the outcome of the primaries, which he had said was flawed and inequitable.

Addressing his supporters in his hometown Bera in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State on Sunday, Abe insisted that his “name will be on the ballot” in 2023.

According to him, “At this point in Rivers State, can we go and hire somebody that we don’t know to come and be the governor of our state?

“That is why I will be on the ballot. Because Rivers State people know me, they know what to expect. They know that we would run a government that will take care of you”.

He also congratulated the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Chibuike Ameachi, and President of Belema Oil, Jackrich Tien for their courage to take part in the APC presidential primaries.

The senator has also condoled with the state chapter of the APC over the death of two of her members, Onimiteim Vincent Samuel and Barrister Prince Loveday Motets.

Abe, in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Parry Saroh Benson, described their death as saddening.

“The death of Onimiteim Samuel and Barrister Loveday Motats saddens us deeply and our prayers go out to the families and the party in Rivers State over this irreparable loss.

“I will like to extend my deepest condolences to their families and the party, praying that the Almighty God will grant them eternal rest and the sacrifice of their commitment to the APC shall not go in vain,” the statement added.
