A Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt has remanded in prison custody, a Police officer attached to Rivers State Police Command, Ijabula Jingi, who allegedly shot 47-year-old Wisdom Nwordu to death, at his residence of Akpa Anaka Kinika, Egbelu, in Obio Akpor local government area of the state.

The suspect who faces one count charge of murder under section 319, CAP 37 of the Criminal Code, was alleged to have jumped into the deceased compound at about 2am 11 May 2022, and shot late Wisdom Nwordu, a banker in the chest.

The presiding Magistrate, Chief Magistrate Rosemary Ibanibo, ruled that the case file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice, as the court lacks the jurisdiction to hear the matter.

The Court, however, adjourned the case to 5 July 2022, and remanded the suspect in prison custody, pending DPP advice.
