Information reaching TPCN reveals that a barber was gunned down by suspected cultists on Thursday night in Diobu axis of Port Harcourt.

The incident was said to have happened around Abba Street in Mile 1, Diobu.

A source who disclosed this said the suspected killers of the barber are now being hunted by police authorities.

The source explained: “We heard the sound of a serious gun shot in the midnight. The gun shot just sounded all of a sudden, waking many people up. But nobody came out at that time of the night because of fear of stray bullet. It was early this morning that we heard they shot a barber.”

The source who said he lives at Mulumba street, disclosed that the police has waded into the matter.

“I saw a police van this morning as I was going to my shop. It’s like they have arrested some people but I heard the boys ran away after killing the guy.”

Another source told TPCN that the killing of the barber was a revenge by a rival cult whose member was said to have been shot at the Education Bus Stop axis of Mile 1 last week by the barber’s own cult group.

However, the barber, according to the story, was not among those who went for the attack at Education Bus Stop.

The line of the police public relations officer (PPRO) of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, was unvailable when TPCN tried to reach her over the incident.

On Wednesday evening, gun shots were reportedly heard at Elechi Beach axis of Mile 1, Diobu, Port Harcourt. Although no life was reported to have been lost, the incident was rumoured to be cult-related.

Cult clashes have always been a recurrent decimal in Diobu, although the rate has reduced in recent years due to the slightly improved security in the area.
