The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Rivers State Zone has arrested five persons for allegedly exploiting underage girls for prostitution.

The suspects, including the manager of a brothel at the Wimpey axis of Port Harcourt, were allegedly using the underaged victims for their gain.

Speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt on Friday, the chairperson of NAPTIP in Rivers State, Nwamaka Ikedia said the underage girls were rescued following surveillance in the area about the illegal activity in the brothel.

She said the victims were working for the arrested persons who were collecting the money when they were rescued.

The NAPTIP boss revealed that the victims would be sent in for rehabilitation before they are reunited with their families.

She urged members of the public to be vigilant and report illegal activities in their area to relevant agencies.
