OSPAC operative shoots self dead in Ubima community

A member of the local vigilance group, OSPAC, operating in Ubima Community, Ikwerre Local Government Area has reportedly killed himself by mistake.

The victim, identified as Elemchukwu is said to have accidentally shot himself with his gun on Thursday.

Confirming the development, the Vice-Chairman of the group in Ubima, Goodluck Amadi said the deceased died as a result of accidental discharge against the news making the rounds that two members of the vigilance group were involved in a shoot out.

Amadi said he was in his office on Thursday morning when he received information that Elemchukwu had shot himself.

He explained that on getting to the scene of the incident, he was briefed that the deceased, who had bought some items from a shop, was about climbing his motorcycle when the head of his gun hit the ground, discharging the bullet that killed him.

It was also learnt that the remains of the late vigilante have been laid to rest.
