Gunmen kidnap construction expatriate, kill police in Edo

Suspected Kidnappers on Monday reportedly kidnapped an expatriate supervising Agbede/Anwain Road construction in Idegun, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

It was gathered that the hoodlums also killed a policeman attached to the expatriate during the operation.

An eyewitness account said the incident occurred on Monday during an inspection of the road by the expatriate.

The source said five armed men came out from the bush, killed the policeman and grabbed the foreigner.

According to the account, the suspected kidnappers came on foot from a neighbouring community, Uromi, in the Esan North-East Local Government Area of the state.

It was learnt that the villagers in the company of local vigilante groups set out shortly after the incident to rescue the foreigner.
