Brave Dickson

A fake American resident who gave his name as Engr. Ikenna Lucky Nnamani has defrauded a Nigerian lady residing in Rivers State who is desperate to get married.

The victim, Chinenye who craved anonymity to omit her surname over fear of being attacked by violent fraudsters narrated how she was duped by the fraudster.

She said, “I met a friend on Facebook two months ago who gave his name as Engr. Ikenna Lucky Nnamani and after much chatting with him, he proposed to marry me and I accepted his marriage proposal.

“He told me he comes from Enugu State, Nigeria but based in Texas, USA and also gave me the phone number of a woman he claimed to be his mother living in Nigeria to communicate with.

“Few days ago, he called me and said that his grandmother was hit by a stray bullet on her way to church and she is critically ill in the hospital and sent me a picture of an hospitalized aged woman who he said was his grandmother.

“He later promised sending me 2,000 US dollars to help take care of his acclaimed injured grandmother, adding that he never wanted to fly down from US to Nigeria now.

“While I was waiting for the 2,000 dollars which he promised sending me, a man called me claiming to be the doctor treating his acclaimed injured grandmother.

“I called him to confirm if truly the acclaimed doctor is the person treating his grandmother and the fraudster said yes and asked me to cooperate with the acclaimed doctor.

“The doctor later called me and asked me to pay in some money before surgical operations will commence on the woman the fraudster called his grandmother.

“While I was still waiting for the fraudster to send me the 2,000 dollars he had promised, I immediately sent 55,000 naira in two tranches to the acclaimed doctor to commence operation on the woman to save her life.

“Then he finally sent me a Western Union Money Transfer containing 2,000 dollars which I took to the bank for withdrawal and the bank officials told me it was a fake Western Union Money Transfer.”

The fraudster successfully duped his victim with the following items:

1) Two photographs showing the fraudster in a dark-red suit jacket and another wearing a pair of jeans trousers, T-shirt posing beside a luxurious jeep.

2} A picture of a critically injured woman lying on a hospital bed which he told his victim was his grandmother.

3) A fake Western Union Money Transfer bearing: Fidelity Bank, a cash amount of 2, 000 US dollars, dated 6th December, 2021, Telephone number +2349030727505, a Money Transfer Central Number 7760540911 and as well as the name of the fraudster and victim among others.
