Dikio tasks PAP students to be good ambassadors of Niger Delta

The Interim Administrator, Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Col. Milland Dixon Dikio (rtd), has urged students under the programme’s scholarship to be good ambassadors of the Niger Delta region.

He gave the advice in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Thursday, during a meeting with a delegation of the students under the National Association of Presidential Amnesty Students Worldwide (NAPASW).

Dikio, in his speech, advised the students to build skills in areas that would ensure that they are gainfully employed after graduation.

He noted that the world had moved from conventional learning to a knowledge-based economy where persons with such skills easily secure jobs.

According to him, “There is a means to an end; education is a means to an end. We are living in a knowledge-based world; now, companies like Google are looking for people to employ. The end state is that Niger-delta must be the best place to live and do business and that responsibility lies on not just us, but you as well.”

The Administrator charged them to work hard to make good grades and become worthy in character and learning from their respective institutions.

Dikio explained that his vision of making the region the best place to live and do business could only be realized with their collective efforts.

He further assured them of his commitment to their welfare while stressing that rascality of any kind would not be tolerated because such attitude would dent their reputation and hinder the objectives of the scholarship scheme.

He maintained that all the obligations owed them would be met, as well as the regular payment of their tuition fees and In-Training Allowances (ITAs).

In his remarks, the President of NAPASW, Lucky Ukueku, thanked Dikio for his encouragement and availing them of the opportunity to air their views.
