Fire razes down tens of homes in Port Harcourt

Over 100 hundred persons were on Sunday rendered homeless after a fire incident swept through the overcrowded settlement in Elechi Beach Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

The incident is the fourth fire incident in the city in the last nine days.

The cause of the fire was said to be from from an electrical spark.

Recall that on November 20, fire gutted the abandoned premises of an energy services company on Isiokpo Street in the D-line area of Port Harcourt, destroying the company’s generating set, diesel tanker, part of its warehouse, and nearby businesses.

On November 21, another fire gutted an uncompleted building at the Rumuokoro Area of Obo/Akpor, destroying properties worth millions of Nigeria.

On November 22, fire gutted the Bonny/Bille/Nembe jetty in Port Harcourt, destroying goods worth millions of naira and killing at least four persons, according to preliminary report by the Police.
