A young man identified as Emma Eregarnoma has been arrested by the Delta State Police command over a failed attempt to use his mother for an alleged money ritual.
The incident which occurred in the Okuokoko community near Warri area of the state, left Mrs. Oke Eregarnoma, hospitalized after she said her son tried to strangle and pluck out her eyes.
While narrating her ordeal to journalists on a hospital bed, Mrs. Eregarnoma said her son had invited her to his house on Caroline Street, Okuokoko, having hinted to her that he had a surprise package for her.
On arrival, she saw him in an unusual joyful mood, as he increased the volume of his musical gadgets.
She alleged that her son suddenly locked the door and made moves to strangle and pluck off her eyes while adding that no one heard her scream for help due to the loud music.
Just as she regained her strength and ran outside for help, she narrated that neighbors came to her rescue and apprehended the suspect, who was taken to the police station.
While confirming the incident, the State’s acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, affirmed that the suspect was in custody as he noted that investigations have commenced to find out the true situation.
