Man kills mother of four in Rivers state

The Nigerian Police force has paraded a suspect, identified as Prince Reuben, who confessed to the rape and murder of a client, Joy Saturday, in River state.

In a press statement, Police spokesperson, Frank Mba described the act as ‘wicked’, while revealing that Reuben, who hails from Etche in Rivers state, had earlier sold a piece of land for N250,000 to the late Joy Saturday, a mother of four and petty trader.

He disclosed that Reuben lured the lady by pretending that there was another vacant land for sale, where he lured the unsuspecting victim to the bush for an inspection.

During the inspection, the deceased was kidnapped, raped and shot to death by Reuben and his friends, who poured acid on her body and threw her corpse into the forest after stealing the sum of N20,000 she had on her.

Mba disclosed that the other perpetrators, identified as Nwaba, Chinedu and Promise were still at large.

Confessing to the crime, Reuben reaveled that the deceased had called him, that she was coming to see the vacant land he had talked about.

In his statement, he said:

“So, on that day, I went to my working place. She called me on the phone that she is coming to see the land; I said Ok that I went to work, my closing time is by 4 pm. she said ok that when I close, no problem, that when I close, I should call her.

“So, before then, my three friends told me that they are going to kidnap her and make money from her. I said ok, no problem.

“So, on that day, they hang inside the bush, I took her to the land; so she saw the land, then my three friends came out and we now kidnapped her and took her inside the forest.

“We raped her, we killed her, we pour her acid.”

Mba further appealed to the public, urging them to report to the nearest law enforcement agency, if they have any information that will help them arrest the other gang members at large.
