Gunmen attack police station in Anambra, kill two officers

Unknown gunmen have attacked a police station in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, killing two officers and freeing all detainees.

The attack follows a week of slow down in attacks on security agents in the South East and South-South.

It comes barely 24 hours after Christopher Owolabi took over command from Monday Kuruyas as the Commissioner of Police of Anambra State.

A source said the police station was invaded on Wednesday night by the gunmen who killed two inspectors while all the detainees in the cell were released before razing down the police station.

DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, the public relations officer of the state command, who confirmed the attack said the commissioner of police has deployed a team to the scene of the incident to investigate the reason for the attack.
