Ugandan woman bags 2 years jail term for assaulting son

Patience Uwimana, a 23 year old Ugandan has bagged a 2-year jail term after she was caught on camera assaulting her 5 year old son.

She was convicted on Wednesday, march 24th, after she plead guilty to the charges leveled against her for torturing her son and going as far as stomping his head.

She begged for leniency, stating that neighbors always attacked her for birthing a thief as he would allegedly steal anything he came across. She linked her actions to the anger of what her neighbors reported to her and begged to be forgiven.

The magistrate, Ms. Christine Nantenge in her judgement said:

The state has failed to prove, that you [Uwimana] has committed any other offence and therefore, there is nothing to show that you have a criminal record.

Assault has a maximum punishment of 5 years but because of your plea of guilt, I sentence you to two years in prison.

Uwimana, whose video stormed the net on March 10, showed her hitting her son with a cane and violently stomping on his head.
