Lawyer, accomplice in court for destruction of properties in Rivers Community

A Port Harcourt based legal Practitioner, Nnamdi Ofoegbu and one Sopuruchi Epele who were linked to wanton destruction of properties worth millions of naira in a Community in the Igboo-Etche Kingdom, Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, have been arraigned before a Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt for malicious damage and causing violence.

According to the eight-count charge read out in court, the two Defendants and others at large are alleged to have conspired and destroyed buildings and other properties belonging to the family members of Umuekwune in Igboagwuasa clan in Igbo Etche Kingdom in Etche Local Government Area of the State.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted bail by Chief Magistrate, A.O Amadi-Nna in the sum of two million naira with a surety who must have a landed property within the magisterial district.

Our Correspondent reports that Chief Magistrate Amadi ordered that the two accused be remanded in Port Harcourt Correctional Center pending when the bail conditions are perfected.

You would recall that on the 20th of January, 2021, family members and residents of Ekwune land led by their Paramount Ruler of Eze Innocent Nwosu alleged they were being rendered homeless as properties worth millions were destroy by some individuals in the company of men suspected to be IGP monitoring Unit, Aluu.
