Gunmen kill Okowa’s aide

An aide of Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Comrade Okiemute Sowho has been shot dead by gunmen suspected to be assassins.

He was killed on Saturday evening along Crudas axis, by Akintola Road in Sapele, Sapele council area of the state, The Nation reports.

Sowho, also known as Daddy K, was a Special Assistant to Okowa on Youth Development.

The gunmen were said to have stormed the area in a white Toyota Venza car.

According to sources, the killing might have been carried out by suspected assassins as nothing was stolen from the deceased after he was shot dead.

It was gathered that Daddy K, who was in his 40s, was shot by his assailants at a close range before they fled the scene.

Another source disclosed the deceased was killed in front of a storey building that he was inspecting along Akintola Road near Solodem Plaza in the timber town.

Sympathisers, who were at the scene of the incident, were said to have rushed him to a private hospital where doctors confirmed him dead on arrival.

His remains have been deposited in at a morgue.

Sowho was a former Councillorship aspirant under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ward 3 in Sapele Local Government Area.

He was a staunch supporter of Governor Okowa and was said to have just recently paid the bride price of his second wife carrying his baby.

When contacted, the acting State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Edafe Bright, confirmed the incident.

He said: “It’s true that we have a report that an aide to the governor was killed. However, we are yet to get details.”
