Uniport Senate elects acting VC to serve another 6 months.

The Senate of the University of Port Harcourt has elected Professor Steve Okodudu to serve as acting Vice-chancellor for a period of six months.

Okodudu’s was appointed by the the minister of education to oversee the affairs of the institution in June 2020 and his tenure expired in December.

The federal ministry of education had through the secretary of the National University Commission, directed the Senate of the institution to elect another acting Vice-chancellor pending the composition of the University Council.

Among the contestants include Professors Regina Ogali and Fawhemi.

However, Professor Okodudu won with a slight margin and was returned as the acting VC for another term of six months.
