Rivers CJ frees 126 inmates from correctional facilities

The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Adama Iyaye Laminkara has released over 100 inmates from correctional centers in Port Harcourt, Degema and Ahoada prisons as part of efforts to decongest those facilities.

A total of 57 inmates were released from Port Harcourt Correctional Center on 30th November and 3rd of December, while 42 inmates were released from Degema on the 2nd December.

Also 25 inmate were released from Ahoada Correctional Centre on the 1st December, while two persons were granted bail at Port Harcourt and Degema correctional centers.

According to her office, the jail delivery exercise is in accordance with the provision of section 1 Subsection 11 of the Criminal Justice, Special Provision Act 2004.
