International Criminal Court begins probe into shooting of Lekki #EndSARS protesters by Army

The International Criminal Court says it has resumed conducting preliminary investigations into the shooting of #EndSARS protests in Nigeria.

In a statement, the office of the ICC prosecutor had earlier said it had received information on alleged crimes and will “assess whether the legal criteria for opening an investigation under the Rome Statute are met”.

The ICC said it would make findings of the preliminary examination public.

Soldiers on October 20 launched a brutal crackdown on protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate, killing about twelve persons.

The rights group, Amnesty International, said security forces opened fire on protesters, killing and injuring a number of people.
