Afrobeats star Davido has expressed confidence that a joint tour with fellow Nigerian singer Wizkid would sell out venues worldwide, saying he would demand $500,000 for each performance.
Davido made the remarks during an appearance on the IONWANNATALK show, where he discussed the possibility of recording music and embarking on a tour with Wizkid.
The singer, however, was less certain that a joint record between them would become a hit, citing the collaboration between D’banj and 2Baba as an example.
“If Wizkid and I do a song together, I don’t know if it will pop because when D’banj and 2Baba did a record together, it didn’t really pop,” Davido said.
He expressed greater confidence in the commercial prospects of a joint tour, suggesting that their combined popularity would attract large audiences.
“If we tour together, I’ll ask for $500,000 per show because I know every venue will sell out,” he said.
Davido also disclosed that he and Wizkid had not recorded a song together in about 10 years, explaining that their lack of collaboration was not necessarily due to an inability to work together.
According to him, they had not been in the same mental space, while opinions remain divided over whether their rivalry has contributed to their individual success or whether a collaboration could further boost their careers.
The singer also reflected on moving past disagreements, noting that maturity involves recognising when one’s feelings about a situation have changed.
“I felt that way at some point but not anymore, and it takes a great man to do that,” he said.
Although no joint tour has been announced, Davido’s comments have renewed discussion about the possibility of the two Afrobeats stars sharing a stage.
