Breaking: Riots break out in Rivers, Court, Police Station burnt, three killed

Riots have broken out in the Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Eyewitnesses said a mob attacked a police station in the area located along Port Harcourt-Aba expressway and burnt down a police armored tank.

The eyewitnesses said the driver of the armoured tanker was also burnt beyond recognition while the station was equally burnt.

It was gathered that the police officers at the station took to their heels as the mob surged.

Another video posted on the internet showed a mobile police officer who was lynched by the mob.

A high court in the area has reportedly been burnt while Police officers were also seen in the streets firing live rounds on protesters.

Nnamdi Omoni, the public relations officer of the Rivers State Police Command who confirmed the development, added that the commissioner of police, Joseph Mukan will visit the area later.
