Port Harcourt mothers join #EndSARS protest

Florence Uwaeme

Mothers in the Garden City of Port Harcourt, on Monday, added their voices to those of millions of youths who have been on the streets protesting for an end to the brutal police unit known as the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

The protesters converged at UTC Junction and marched down to the police divisional headquarters at Moscow road.

Aggrieved mothers of Port Harcourt were mostly decked in black on black outfits bearing placards that showed their grievances.

Here are some of the inscriptions on their placards: “prosecute killer police officers,” leave him, “he is not a criminal,” “stop killing our sons,” “end police brutality,” “mothers don’t want to bury their sons” amongst others.

The nationwide #EndSARS protest is in its second week and there is no sign of the protesters backing down any time soon.
