Cross River moves against quack doctors

Cross River State Government is moving against what it has described as needless and unwanted death, occasioned by the activities of quack Doctors and illegal medical operators in the state.

The state government also Inaugurated a taskforce to headhunt all illegal hospitals and medical personnel in the state, with a charge to arrest and prosecute them if found wanting.

Speaking during the inauguration of the taskforce in Calàbar on Monday, Cross River State Commissioner for Health, Betta Edu, said there must be a stop to complaints received from medical doctors, unions, and individuals on the unwholesome activities on a daily basis.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA in Cross River State, Innocent Abang, and the Chairman of the Taskforce, David Ushie said, the Committee will put a stop to the illegal activities.

Hospitals, Pharmacies Chemists, Maternity homes, Mortuaries, Laboratories, Physiotherapy homes are not exempted from the illegal medical facilities, which the task force are to clean up.
