Court adjourns Nunieh’s suit against Police, SSS, NDDC

A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has adjourned for motion in the fundamental right suit filed by a Former Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Joy Nunieh, against the Nigeria Police, Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Department of State Service, (DSS) Senator Godswill Akpabio and the NDDC.

During the court proceedings, Claimant’s Counsel, J.A. Aaron told the court that all parties in the matter have been duly served the originating process, following the court’s order for substituted service.

Gladys Imegu, Counsel representing the Nigeria Police and Commissioner of Police, the 2nd and 4th Respondents in the case, prayed the court to grant them time to peruse the originating process served them in order to reply appropriately for fairness of hearing in the matter.

Our Correspondent Tina Amanda reports that Counsel representing the DSS, the 3rd Respondent, agreed with the submission made by the 2nd and 4th Respondents’ Counsel.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Elsie Nwanwuri Thompson, granted the request of the 2nd and 4th Respondents’ Counsel in the interest of justice, and adjourned the case to 13 August for motion.
