Chima Ikwunado: We Won’t Stop Shouting Until E-Crack Boss Is Arraigned – Ikoku Traders

By Kelechi Esogwa-Amadi

Traders at. the popular Ikoku motor spare parts market have vowed not to give up their demand for the arraignment and prosecution of the head of the notorious Eagle Crack Team that tortured Chima Ikwunado to death, Benson Adetuyi until the police grant their request.

The Eagle Crack Team of Mile 1 police station had, in December 2019, tortured five mechanics of Ikoku spare parts market, resulting in the death of one of the mechanics, Chima Ikwunado, a development that sparked public outrage in Rivers State.

On Tuesday, four of the E-CRACK officers were arraigned at a magistrate court in Port Harcourt for the first time.

However, the exclusion of Benson Adetuyi and another officer from the team that was arraigned on Tuesday has been eliciting angry reactions from the public, a cross-section of Ikoku traders vowing to sustain their call for the arraignment of the remaining two officers until the police comply.

One of the traders, Charles Ike, told TPCN yesterday at Ikoku: “Yes we’re happy that the police arraigned four of the officers in court but we expected them to arraign all of them. But we didn’t see Benson Adetuyi and Sergeant Amadi. We will not rest until they arraign them.”

Uche Nwangbu, another mechanic, said: “Benson must face the court. Why are they trying to protect him? He was the head of E-CRACK squad, so he has questions to answer.”

Another trader added: “Without prosecuting all of them, justice will not be complete. We will keep shouting till full justice is served.”
