Taxi drivers attack personnel of Rivers task force – second attack in 48 hours

Personnel of the Rivers State Task Force on Street Trading and illegal Motor Park were on Saturday attacked by drivers plying the Choba-Nkpolu axis of the east-west road in Obio-Akpor local government area.

Theportcitynews gathered that the attack at Nkpolu followed a protest by the drivers over the seizure of a colleague’s vehicle by the task force officials.

The attack comes barely 48 hours after another personnel of the state government out was allegedly stabbed to death by truck drivers at Trans Amadi.

Mr. Jerry Amadi, the Zonal Commander of the Rumuokoro, Rumuodomaya, Rupokwu, and Igwururta axis of the Task Force, confirmed this in an interview.

According to him, his men were attacked by the drivers for seizing one of their vehicles whom he said parked wrongfully.

He added that the situation has been put under control after security agencies intervened.
