COVID-19: Organized labour calls off strike in Rivers

Organized Labour in Rivers state has suspended its strike action in the state.

In a statement signed by the state Chairman of Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Beatrice Itubo, his Trade Union Congress, TUC, counterpart, Austin Jonah and the Chairman Organized Private sector Union, Rivers State, Comrade Chuku Emechete said the National Headquarter of the NLC has called that the strike be suspended due to the pandemic in the country.

The statement urged union member to resume work from 27th of March 2020 as part of the sacrifice to curtail pandemic and called on the state government to leverage on the gesture and addressed the issues being canvassed by the organized Labour.

The statement further commended all affiliated members, workers dogged commitment in the cause of the strick action
