The member representing Omuma state constituency in Rivers State House of Assembly. Kelechi Nwogu has been given an award of excellence and philanthropy in football development in Rivers State by the Rivers State Football Coaches Association.
The Coaches Association is an affiliate of Rivers State Football Association.
The award ceremony took place at Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt, on Wednesday.
Hon. Nwogu was praised by the Association for devoting his resources, energy, and time for the development of football.

Nwogu has been sponsoring and organising annual football competition in Omuma, tagged Honorable Kelechi Nwogu Unity Cup for the past five years, with year’s edition is already ongoing.
He has also been bringing champions of Nigerian women football, Rivers Angels to Omuma for novelty football match annually.
He also singlehandedly sponsored Omuma United financially and technically to win RiversState Governor’s Cup during Rivers

He recently financed a football competition for Rivers State All-Stars.
After receiving the award, Hon. Kelechi Nwogu proceeded to feature in a novelty football match between Rivers State Football Coaches Association and Delta State Football Coaches Association at the same venue. The match ended one-all draw.
