Rivers emerges winner of NAFEST 2019

Rivers State has emerged the overall winner at the 32nd National Festival for Arts and Culture NAFEST which was hosted by Edo State.

The state previously won the 2018 NAFEST it hosted.

TheNation reports that Ogun State took the second position while Edo and Bayelsa got a tie in the third position.

Delta State won the traditional cuisine, Kwara State won in the Children Essay writing, Edo State won the children poetry, Anambra State won the traditional wrestling while Ogun won the Drama event.

Plateau State was named as the state to host the 2020 NAFEST.

Prof. Victor Uwaifo was given award for using music to promote culture.

Speaking at the end of the event on Saturday, the Director General of the National Council for Arts and Culture, Otumba Olusegun Runsewe, hailed the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewaure II for the warm reception he accorded the NAFEST contingent.
