OML 54: NDPR Ignores RSHA invitation

The adhoc committee set up by the Rivers state house of Assembly to investigate the activities of Niger Delta Petroleum Resources NDPR over the marginalization of its host communities of OML 54 ; OGBELE, UBUMEZE, OSHUIGBOKO in Ahoada-East local government area has expressed displeasure over the failure of NDPR to appear before it.

The Chairman of the Adhoc committee MAJOR JACK said shortly after the third committee meeting at the state assembly complex in Port-Harcourt that the assembly will determine the next step of action.

MAJOR JACK who expressed sadness over the the marginalization of the host communities said the committee will submit its report on the next legislative sitting to discourse and deliberate further over the matter.

He said NDPR had been avoiding taxes and owes Rivers State Government 1 billion.

The Solicitor general of the state, Florence Fiberesima during the meetings pointed out that the attorney general office can as well intervene into the matter through the ministry of environment.
