Passengers plying the Elele-Emohua section of the East-West road have applauded the activities of the new security outfit, Operation Sting”, in tackling cases of kidnapping and robberies along that road.

Two passengers onboard a commercial vehicle going to Bayelsa, Mr Nnamdi Peter and Mr Chukwuka Elendu who spoke with our correspondent at the Rumuokoro motor park, noted that they can now travel on the road without security concerns.

Also, a driver who would not want his name mentioned and another passenger Stella Alaka while appreciating the security agencies for their effort, frowned at the activities of some police officers who hide under the guise of stop and search to extort money from drivers.

On his part, the Commissioner of police in Rivers State, Mr Mustapha Dandaura said the men and officers had been able to destabilize the operation of hoodlums along the East-West road, Elele- Owerri road among others.

Mr Dandaura also said the police had shifted attention to the Ogoni axis in a move to ensure relative peace across the state.
