Supreme Court suspends proceedings to rule on INEC server

The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, suspended all of its proceedings to rule on the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the last presidential election, Atiku Abubakar for permission to be allowed access the server owned by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) had on June 24, 2019, dismissed an application by Atiku and the PDP requesting permission to have access to the central server, which they claimed INEC used for the February 23 poll, The Nation reports.

While INEC was represented by Yunus Usman (SAN), Buhari was represented by Wole Olanipekun (SAN), and APC by Chief Charles Edosomwan (SAN)‎.

They maintained that granting the prayer sought by the appellants would be of no utility value as the presentation of evidence at the tribunal had closed.

The tribunal had fixed Wednesday for final arguments in the case.
