RSG will host more international competitions during Wike’s second tenure-Iyaye

The Rivers State Commissioner for Sports Boma Iyaye says the State Government has given adequate attention to the welfare of staff and players of the State Owned sports teams.
Boma Iyaye while speaking to our correspondent said the Rivers Angels, Rivers United and Rivers Hoopers are well taken care of by the Rivers State Government.
He maintained that the state is giving equal attention to all the State-owned teams as their salaries and allowances were paid as at when due.
Iyaye said that the State Government will continue to motivate Rivers athletes to ensure that they benefit from the sweat.

He stated that the administration of Governor Nyesom Wike will continue to invest in sports development.

The Commissioner of Sports Rivers State stated that Port Harcourt is now the hub of sports in Africa because of the numerous national and international competitions taking place in Rivers State.

Boma Iyaye noted that Rivers State will host more national and international sporting competitions in the second term of the Governor Nyesom Wike administration.

According to Boma Iyaye, he revealed that hosting national and international sporting events have boosted the economy of the state.

He noted that the multiplier effects of such sporting activities have impacted on the micro-economy of the state.

You could recall that Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Capital recently hosted the 2019 African Senior Badminton Championships which Team Nigeria won after edging out Mauritius to claim the title.
